We are pleased to announce that the 58th meeting of the Czech Phycological Society will be held
at the Faculty of Science, University of Ostrava. The meeting will provide a forum to present work
on biodiversity, taxonomy, ecology, phylogeny, and experimental biology of algae and cyanobacteria.

Presentations in Czech will be restricted to Monday (September 18), the rest of the conference will be held
in English only, so we cordially invite phycologists from abroad to participate. Thanks to our sponsors and support by the University of Ostrava, praticipants do not pay any registration fee and have for free the refreshment and drinks at the welcome party and coffee breaks. We are negotiating with other possible sponsors to raise extra funds to cover the conference dinner.

Right after the conference, specifically on the 21st and 22nd of September, we are organizing at the same place a course devoted to the diversity, phylogeny and evolution of eukaryotes and the eukatyotic cell.
The course is primarily intended for students of the international Horizon 2020-sponsored training network "ALFF - The ALgal Microbiome: Friends and Foes", but is open for external participants.
The exact programme of the course will be specified by the end of August 2017. If you are interested in being included into a mailing list concerning this course, please send an e-mail to Marek Eliáš (the address is provided below).

See you soon in Ostrava!
